Hello Everyone,
It took many years to realize that I couldn't just write anything, put it online, and hope it made money. I had to learn how to make money online. To do that, I had to go through many failures to find out what works and what doesn't. I had to write online, even though I sucked at them at the start. I learned I had to be intentional with writing and earning money online.
I write my articles with a purpose for different platforms and companies. Medium is easy. I write anything I want on Medium. But I don't do that for my other platforms. For example, here are the platforms I'm writing and contributing to consistently.
Medium
I write anything I want on Medium.
I write about my journey as a teacher.
I write about writing and how to earn money on Medium.
I write about stories in business.
I write about food.
NewsBreak
I write about eateries, restaurant reviews, and interesting stories.
Substack
Substack is different. Here is where I chronicle my writing journey. I write about what works and doesn't work when writing and earning money online. The Substack newsletter is an example of how I make money online, so someone starting new can follow.
Online course
Here is where I talk about how I wrote educational stories, my experiences as a teacher and online writer, and I show how I earn money using different platforms. I'll sell my course on Gumroad and through an email subscription business through Convertkit.
Podcast
I'm also starting a podcast to build a community of writers who face the same online writing challenges. This project is in its infancy stage. I'll share as I get closer to my launch date.
Final Thoughts
I don't use articles about food and restaurant reviews on my Substack account; likewise, I don't use my Substack articles on my NewsBreak account. Building a podcast on Substack will be critical in how much I develop my writing business. My goal is to match my teaching income and surpass it in several years.
I write my articles for a specific audience and platform.
Thank you for being part of my writing journey.
Happy writing!
