I always used a PC. At work and home, I've always had a PC. My current PC has Windows 10 on it. I started learning about computers with floppy disks and had no intention of changing.
Everyone in my math department was switching to a Mac this school year. I was the last holdout. The tech person at my school was phasing out the PC and switching everyone to Mac.
I didn't want to switch, but I reluctantly agreed to use a new MacBook Air. After ten weeks of the school year, I believe the Mac is far superior to a PC. I was so impressed with the Mac that I purchased a new MacBook Air for my freelance writing and placed the old PCs I had on eBay for sale.
I'm not sure why I held out; I know why. I wanted to stick it to my department and say, "nope, you can't force me to use a Mac."
Some teachers were adamant about not changing to a Mac. I eventually said okay to get a new MacBook Air.
Key Takeaway
If someone blesses you with a new MacBook Air at work, say, "I'll take it; thank you."
Even though I always used a PC, and back in the day, my twin brother and I built desktop PCs for my first several years of teaching, it took me only several times to use it to realize the Mac is so much better.
Well, there is one minor correction on who built the desktop PCs. My twin brother made them, but I purchased all the parts, so technically, it was my desktops.
Another key takeaway is don't be too focused on a fixed mindset. Be open to new changes.
